Rugby World Cup Sevens 2018
The Rugby World Cup Sevens 2018 is around the corner and fans all over the world can hardly keep calm as they wait to watch clashes between the most active teams in the sport. This event will be the seventh of its kind, a show that the game has come a long way since its formation. The World Rugby Organization is to thank for this rare treat which will take place at the AT&T in San Francisco, USA.
Women in Rugby
As from the twentieth of July all the way to the twenty-second of the same month, eighty-two matches will take place as teams get knocked out on a daily basis. Of all the events, fifty-two of them will feature men’s teams while the rest will feature women’s groups. Over time, women have shown their prowess in the game and have worked hard in the sport as more nations continue to help them nurture their skills. With time, more female teams will make it to the finals.
The Organization
Planning for this event commenced as early as 2014 where participating nations declared their interest in the competition. Many countries came forward, hoping for a chance to host the tournament before the USA bagged the bid. The AT&T Park has a capacity of about forty thousand people which makes it an ideal venue for the events set to take place. The games will begin on Friday where the women will compete in the quarterfinals. The semi-finals, final matches and the award ceremonies for the women’s teams will take place on Saturday. As for the men’s teams, the quarterfinals will take place on Saturday, and the rest of the activities will take place on Sunday the twenty-second of July where the competition will come to an end.
This competition is a chance to see how far the sport has come and to celebrate the increase of female participation in rugby. Here is to the best of luck to all competing teams in the series.
