Rugby World Cup 2019
This tournament will feature a lot of firsts in the rugby world. To start with, Asia has never had a chance to host such an event, and this will be the origin of its kind on this continent. Other than that, subsequent matches are also set to take place in the same hemisphere, something that has not occurred in the past. It is no wonder therefore that fans are on the edges of their seats, waiting to see what will unfold once the competition begins.
Japan has twelve outstanding stadiums set to host the games, and the first match will take place in Tokyo Stadium. The following events will take place in other venues before the closing game at the International Stadium Yokohama. As such, any fan lucky enough to watch the games live will have a chance to experience the games in different locations, adding more excitement to the events.
The Teams
At present, eighteen teams will participate in the games. Japan automatically had a place in the 2019 games based on the fact that they would host the games. They, however, managed to rank third in the pools thus securing a slot. The other slots are yet to get filled, a process which will take place by way of regional playoffs set to take place before the final matches.
The competition will have a knockout mechanism such that teams will compete amongst themselves in pools before heading to the subsequent stages.
There are a lot of high stakes in the 2019 games and placing a wager could have you celebrating alongside the winning team. There are many betting options available at present, and you can start your research as early as today.
2019 will be an exciting year for rugby fans all over the world as they wait to see which nation walks away with the prize. Long Live Rugby!
Rugby World Cup Sevens 2018
The Rugby World Cup Sevens 2018 is around the corner and fans all over the world can hardly keep calm as they wait to watch clashes between the most active teams in the sport. This event will be the seventh of its kind, a show that the game has come a long way since its formation. The World Rugby Organization is to thank for this rare treat which will take place at the AT&T in San Francisco, USA.
Women in Rugby
As from the twentieth of July all the way to the twenty-second of the same month, eighty-two matches will take place as teams get knocked out on a daily basis. Of all the events, fifty-two of them will feature men’s teams while the rest will feature women’s groups. Over time, women have shown their prowess in the game and have worked hard in the sport as more nations continue to help them nurture their skills. With time, more female teams will make it to the finals.
The Organization
Planning for this event commenced as early as 2014 where participating nations declared their interest in the competition. Many countries came forward, hoping for a chance to host the tournament before the USA bagged the bid. The AT&T Park has a capacity of about forty thousand people which makes it an ideal venue for the events set to take place. The games will begin on Friday where the women will compete in the quarterfinals. The semi-finals, final matches and the award ceremonies for the women’s teams will take place on Saturday. As for the men’s teams, the quarterfinals will take place on Saturday, and the rest of the activities will take place on Sunday the twenty-second of July where the competition will come to an end.
This competition is a chance to see how far the sport has come and to celebrate the increase of female participation in rugby. Here is to the best of luck to all competing teams in the series.

Powergen Junior Vase, Second Round
On Saturday 16th October, Ollerton will be playing Selly Oak in the Junior Vase Competition.
I am sure all the first team lads will be up for this one, giving 100% on the day.
It would be great to see a large turn out to support our team, we have a great chance to cause a cup upset against a Selley Oak team who are travelling from the Birmingham area.
So if you can, come on down, bring the familly and give the first team the support that they deserve.
Spread the word and let’s see if we can get a big turnout.

Robin Hood Ward Fundraising Visit.
At Easter LAGER ran a prize draw in aid of the Robin Hood Ward at King’s Mill Hospital. They raised the fantastic sum of £1,000, and after consulting hospital staff, used the money to buy Play Stations, DVD players, portable televisions, video recorders, television trolleys, some baby play equipment, plus an assortment of Play Station games, DVDs and Videos.
Two representatives of LAGER, and three representatives of the Rugby Club, visited the Robin Hood Ward to hand over the presents to Hospital Play Leader Julie Smith and young patient Alex Parkinson and her mum.
Well done to all LAGER members for such a brilliant effort, and thanks to everyone who supported our first major fund raising event.
Cheers,
Betty
